Onana announces his exit from Inter for a new chapter in Manchester

Manchester

Cameroonian goalkeeper Andre Onana has confirmed his departure from Inter Milan, ahead of a move to Manchester United.

Onana, 27, joined Inter from Ajax Amsterdam in July 2022, but he was suspended for six months for doping violations. He returned to the team in January 2023, but he was unable to dislodge Samir Handanovic as Inter’s first-choice goalkeeper.

Onana has now confirmed that he will be leaving Inter, and he is set to join Manchester United on a five-year contract.

“I fell in love with San Siro, la Curva and the city,” Onana said in a statement. “Now the circumstances are right for me to start a new journey in Manchester.”

Onana’s arrival at Manchester United will provide competition for David de Gea for the starting goalkeeper spot. De Gea has been United’s first-choice goalkeeper for many years, but he has been inconsistent in recent seasons.

Onana is a talented goalkeeper, and he is expected to challenge De Gea for the starting spot. He is also a good fit for Manchester United’s style of play, as he is good with his feet and he is able to play out from the back.

Onana’s arrival at Manchester United is a good signing for the club. He is a talented goalkeeper with a lot of potential, and he is sure to be a valuable asset to the team.
