Don MacLean, a lifelong resident of Halifax, boasts a 30-year career in policing. His recent responsibilities included overseeing the patrol and criminal investigation divisions within the municipality.

MacLean’s career has seen notable milestones, including serving as the department’s first diversity officer from 2004 to 2006. He has steadily risen through the ranks to attain his current position. Furthermore, MacLean is currently serving as the Co-chair of the Wortley Report Research Committee. This committee comprises community stakeholders and partners actively working to address bias and systemic racism within policing.

In recognition of his contributions, MacLean was recently awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal, underscoring his dedication to public service and his commitment to promoting inclusivity within law enforcement.
