The board of police commissioners is responsible for recommending the appointment of an interim chief and will also play a pivotal role in selecting a permanent police chief after the upcoming search is completed.

MacLean’s career has seen notable milestones, including serving as the department’s first diversity officer from 2004 to 2006. He has steadily risen through the ranks to attain his current position. Furthermore, MacLean is currently serving as the Co-chair of the Wortley Report Research Committee. This committee comprises community stakeholders and partners actively working to address bias and systemic racism within policing.
